This resource has used a thematic format to structure the resources. These are designed to be used to complement level 2 or 3 courses or to enable a non-business student to access course materials and information to support the development of knowledge and understanding of concepts relating to business. Each theme whilst designed to fit into a cohesive course mapped onto GCSE, BTC and A-Level courses can be used as a standalone. This resource will be invaluable for those who perhaps need to prepare themselves for applications to jobs, courses, training and apprenticeships and do not currently have a significant amount of business education or experience in a workplace.

The way in which you use these resources is entirely up to you but the numerical order has been designed to provide a guide as to how we suggest you approach this.

We have also designed the resource to be used by educators and have included lots of useful resources, tips and techniques in the Toolkit.

Levels

Much of the content of this resource is pitched at Level 2(GCSE/BTEC First/Cambridge Nationals) or Level 3 (A-Level/BTEC). There will be a small number of occasions where there may be some Foundation or Level 1 content and the intention is to introduce some Level 4 content in the longer term.

Level 2

This will be suitable for GCSE Level study or perhaps as part of a PSHE curriculum from Year 9 onwards.

Level 3

This will be suitable for A Level study or perhaps as part of a PSHE curriculum from Year 11 onwards.

Learning Objectives

There are three learning objectives;

LO1: Knowledge and Understanding

This will require students to learn the concepts linked to business, economics and finance.

LO2: Application

This will require students to be able to apply what they learn in LO1 and be able to apply it to both fictional and real case studies across a wide range of contexts.

LO3: Evaluation and Analysis

This will require students to develop their skills in analysis and evaluation to extend their ability to write in an informed and balanced way in response to case studies in fictional and real case studies across a wide range of contexts.
